Main characteristic features of Arunachal Pradesh is more than sixty percent of the place is covered by evergreen forests, with numerous turbulent streams, roaring rivers, deep gorges, lofty mountains, snow-clad peaks, and thousands of species of flora and fauna. There are five major rivers - Kameng, Subansiri, Siang (which flows as the Brahmaputra in Assam), Lohit and Tirap. The rivers are ideal for rafting and angling, and the rugged terrain is ideal for trekking.

Malinithan and Bhismaknagar are the two important archaeological sites in the state, and Parashuram Kund is a prominent pilgrimage site. In the Changlang district Namdapha Wildlife sanctuary is situated which is the home to the rare Hoolock gibbon.
